VLC Media Player For Windows now Supports 360° videos

VLC; a media player for both Windows and Android is capable of playing any file format, and it is one of the most widely application since a couple of years now. It is now about to bring in support for new medium to its Windows software. The company has unveiled the technical preview that enabled the desktop application to play 360-degree video. VLC has teamed up with 360-degree camera maker Giroptic to develop its system.

VLC has teamed up with 360-degree camera maker Giroptic to develop this, and it can display video, photos, panorama images. You can use either mouse or keyboard to control your viewpoint in the videos. VLC has also made it clear that it will make this feature available to its mobile application allowing users to navigate the 360-degree video clips by moving their devices. Support for VR’s such as Oculus Rift, Google’s Daydream, and the HTC Vive will be made available in 2017. However, no clear timeline for the same is mentioned.

We must warn you that the technical preview might still be a bit buggy, but it sure is good news as VLC is trying to enter into a new segment across all platforms. The VLC technical preview is currently available for both Windows and Mac users, the official update with version VLC 3.0 is expected to roll out this month end.
